What does a Travel Advisor do?
And why aren't they called travel agents anymore?

The travel agent of years gone by is no longer.  It used to be necessary to get hard copy tickets and reservations through an agent (unless you wanted to spend lots of time on the phone to do it yourself).  The agent was mostly transactional.  You knew what you wanted, and they made it happen.

Over the last 20 years, booking travel has changed dramatically.  The internet has made it easy for travelers to book their own flights, hotels and more just as easily as anyone in the travel business.   And so, the travel consultant, or advisor, has evolved.

Travel has become more complex with many, many more options and providers. And every traveler has their own wishes, requirements and budget. The travel advisor takes each client, learns about them, and matches them with the best possible array of providers to help get the most out of your travel time.

A travel advisor spends countless hours learning about the hotels, airlines, cruise ships, resorts and experience providers.  Then they take that knowledge (and relationships they've developed with the providers) to find the best match at the best price.  This saves travelers search time, education time, booking (phone and internet) time, and gives the traveler someone to bounce ideas off of, and come to in cases of unforeseen difficulty.

A travel advisor is now another member of your extended team - just like your attorney, accountant, and real estate agent.
